Are you ready for noodles?

Are you a big eater? Try Wanko-Soba in Iwate, Japan. Wasnko-soba is also as known as buckwheat noodles. Wanko-Soba is a unique fun, and one of traditional foods in northern Japan, Iwate. It is eaten by very entertaining manner. Here is the idea; as soon as the fist bowlful served a sever filing a fresh ball of noodles into the empty bowl and keeps on filing it until you have had enough. A server serves only about a mouthful of noodles each time so you might be able to eat about 40-50 bowls. Similar to the U.S. hot dog contests, there is an annual Wanko-soba eating contest in February. In the contest, you have to fight against yourself and your server.  Wanko-Soba has a long history and it is still loved and eaten by a lot of people. Back in the old days, Soba had planted and eaten well in the cold land near to mountains in Iwate. It had eaten when people gathered at wedding parties and festivals. A trigger widespread Wanko-soba was Wanko-Soba noodle shops in Iwate. They had tried to make the noodle popular in Japan. Then, they came up with the funny idea that eat noodle fun and make people happy. That’s how Wanko-soba begun and the idea passes on the modern era.      

In a restaurant, Wanko-soba is served with Poached tuna, granted Nameko, bonito, sea weed, and you will have many of your spices and green onions. This is the instruction of how to eat Wanko-Soba and play your game.





1, You must wear a apron.
2,You must eat Wanko-Soba continuously. You will get your own server and she will keep giving you a bowl of soba.
3, You can eat side-dish food but don’t eat too much or you cant eat soba.
4, You must put the bowl on the table when you want to stop eat. Your server wont stop. even if you say, “stop” or “enough”. Actions speak louder than words.
5, Then, you will get served by tea and your Wanko-Soba game is over!!
